The Ilikai welcomes you to Honolulu - the centerpiece of the eight islands that comprise the Hawaiian archipelago. Known in Hawaiian as "spouting waters," Waikiki Beach was the playground for Polynesian royalty for centuries. Captain James Cook and other white settlers arrived in the late 18th century and the area quickly became a thriving agricultural center for sugar cane, sweet potatoes, taro, bananas and later, pineapples. Today, Honolulu remains one of the world's most bustling seaports. The city continues to embrace its rich maritime and naval history at the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and the Battleship Missouri.

Present day Waikiki represents the harmonious combination of indigenous culture and 20th century innovations. Guests of the Ilikai have the opportunity to learn more about the Hawaiian culture through participation in native rituals and ceremonies. At sunset every evening, guests and staff convene in the open-air courtyard of the hotel to witness the solemn torch lighting ceremony.

On Friday evenings, guests are treated to authentic Hawaiian music and hula performances while they enjoy an evening of cool breezes. Every Friday night, a spectacular fireworks display dazzles and delights visitors at the Ilikai.
